Perched high on an elevated site in Eaglemont, this family residence is defined by its relationship to the landscape. The design responds directly to the site’s elevated position, presenting as a solid, protective form to the street while opening outward towards uninterrupted views of Melbourne’s CBD. Inspired by the sculptural qualities of Logan Rock formations, a chiselled stone base grounds the home, while a cantilevered façade floats above the terrain.
Internally, the home shifts in character, embracing the idea of the nest. Warm, robust materials and expansive glazing create calm, light-filled interiors that feel both sheltered and connected to the surrounding treetops. A custom terrazzo floor flows seamlessly between inside and out, while timber panelling and curved stone elements soften the architectural language.
Designed for a young, active family who love entertaining, the home features generous spaces for gathering, play and retreat across multiple levels — from a bunkered basement rumpus area to rooftop and alfresco entertaining with panoramic views. A collaborative early engagement between architect, builder and client ensured design intent was carefully protected at all stages.
The result is a calm yet confident home — grounded in its site, shaped by light, and designed to evolve with family life over time.
